Position Title: AccountantDepartment: AccountingStatus: Full-TimeFLSA Status: ExemptLocation: Onsite, Virginia Beach campus Position PurposeOur Accountant is responsible for A/R invoicing, various account reconciliations, completion of month-end close, work papers, and ongoing accounting projects.Position Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/TasksAll A/R invoicing functionsUnclaimed property liaisonGeneration, analysis, reviewing, and communication of financial data, including accounting records and research of transactions and reports.Assist in the month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations and audit work papers.Perform regular and recurring accounting functions and documentationApply the financial policies and procedures of the companyResearch and collect data to be used in transactionsDevelops, implements, and maintains systems, procedures, and policies for general ledger functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.Provides accounting assistance to department managers and operations staff; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs.Other duties as assigned. Position QualificationsBachelor's Degree in accounting or related field3+ years of accounting experienceStrong technical account skills (GAAP)Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivated and able to work both independently and within a teamMust have large ERP system experience, accounting systems/software experience- Great Plains preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsProficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skillsPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe Accountant position requires working at a desk at the corporate office for periods of time up to eight hoursBenefits Major medical, dental & vision insurance.
